Ronald S. Williams was sworn in as Chief on May 18, 2015, and serves as the 8th Chief of Police for the City of Tallmadge Police Department.
Department Service
Chief Williams began his law enforcement career with Tallmadge in 1989 upon graduating from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy in Columbus. Since joining the Tallmadge Police Department, he has served as a Patrol Officer for 13 years, including an assignment to the Detective Bureau, and a Sergeant for 5 years.
Williams was promoted to Lieutenant in 2007 and has served as both a Services and Operations Commander. He has been the department's public information officer since 2008.
Army Reserves & Education
Chief Williams proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years prior to his law enforcement career. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1982 and attended the University of Akron.
Chief Williams is currently enrolled at Tiffin University majoring in Organizational Management. He has completed the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University's Center for Public Safety in 2003, and the Police Executive Leadership College in 2004.
