City Addresses Discontinued Use of Tornado Sirens

The following statement addresses the discontinued use of Tornado Sirens:

In the City of Tallmadge, “tornado” sirens have been replaced by the CodeRED Emergency Alert System. This system provides residents a variety of options--including phone calls, email, and text messages--to receive alerts and critical communications. These messages can now be specific and include instructions and details that were not possible with the siren system. The CodeRED service is now the primary source of emergency alerts and severe weather warnings from the City of Tallmadge to its residents. In addition, weather radios are still able to receive severe weather advisories from the National Weather Service and remain highly recommended.
