Interested in becoming more involved in the workings of your City government?


The city has three city boards and commissions made up of residents who volunteer their services at a monthly meeting (when appropriate applications are received to review) and address such things as residential and commercial zoning issues.  The only requirement for those wishing to serve is that you be a resident of the city.  The Mayor appoints these individuals and council confirms the appointments.

These boards and commissions are the Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and  Heritage Commission.    We are extremely fortunate to have residents that enjoy giving back to their community; several have been members of these boards for as many as three or four 4-year terms.

Presently there is an opening on the Heritage Commission.   Its members work to maintain, safeguard and enhance the distinctive architectural and historic character of our city.
