Civil Service Commission

State law requires that appointments and promotions in the civil service of the state, some counties, cities, and school systems shall be made according to merit and fitness, to be ascertained, as far as practicable, by competitive examinations. Such positions with the City of Tallmadge are Police, Fire, EMS, Street Department (road and garage), and certain clerical & supervisory positions. With the Tallmadge School System, all positions other than teachers and administration are Civil Service Classified.

The Civil Service office is located on the upper floor of City Hall at 46 North Avenue.

Office hours are Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
